Protecting student privacy is fundamental to our mission and how we operate as a company. This Student Data Privacy Pledge explains our commitments to schools, educators, students, and families.

Our promise

Career Clutch commits to the following principles:

We never sell student data

Career Clutch does not sell, rent, trade, or monetize student personal information. We generate revenue from providing software to schools — not from student data.

We use student data only for educational purposes

Student information is used only to:

  • Provide interview practice experiences
  • Deliver skills-based feedback
  • Support career readiness development
  • Provide insights to educators
  • Improve platform functionality and security

We do not use student data for advertising, marketing, or unrelated commercial purposes.

Data ownership

Schools retain ownership of student data. Career Clutch processes student data solely to deliver the service and as described in our Privacy Policy.

Schools own the data

Schools and districts retain ownership of student data. Career Clutch acts as a School Official under FERPA and processes student data only on behalf of the school and according to school authorization.

We do not advertise to students

Career Clutch does not:

  • Display advertisements to students
  • Use student data for targeted advertising
  • Track students across websites
  • Build marketing profiles

Our platform is designed purely as an educational environment.

We protect younger students

Students under 13 access Career Clutch only through their school or district.

We follow COPPA requirements by:

  • Supporting school-controlled consent
  • Collecting only necessary information
  • Using data only for educational purposes
  • Avoiding commercial use of student data

We use AI responsibly

Career Clutch uses AI only to support learning.

Our AI:

  • Provides interview practice feedback
  • Supports skill development
  • Helps educators scale opportunities

Our AI does not:

  • Replace counselors
  • Make hiring decisions
  • Provide therapy or diagnoses
  • Create commercial datasets from student data

AI is a learning tool — not a decision maker.

We minimize data collection

We collect only the data necessary to operate the platform and support student learning.

We do not collect:

  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial data
  • Unnecessary personal information
  • Sensitive data unrelated to education

We secure student data

Career Clutch maintains security safeguards aligned with industry best practices and SOC 2 security principles, including:

  • Encryption in transit and at rest
  • Role-based access controls
  • Secure cloud infrastructure
  • Incident response procedures
  • Vendor security controls

We are transparent about vendors

We use a limited number of trusted service providers to operate Career Clutch.

These providers:

  • Are contractually required to protect student data
  • Cannot use data for their own purposes
  • Cannot sell student information

We support data deletion

Schools may request:

  • Data export
  • Data correction
  • Data deletion

Upon contract termination, student data is deleted or returned according to school direction.

We comply with student privacy laws

Career Clutch aligns with:

  • FERPA
  • COPPA
  • State student privacy laws
  • California student privacy expectations
  • SOC 2 security best practices (aligned)

Our Plain-English commitment

We believe student data should be treated with the same care as educational records.

That means:

  • No selling data.
  • No advertising.
  • No hidden uses.
  • No surprises.

Just responsible technology built to help students succeed.

How we build trust with schools

Career Clutch was designed to meet the expectations of:

  • School districts
  • Counselors
  • Career readiness leaders
  • IT security teams
  • Procurement teams

We aim to be a long-term trusted partner in student success.
