Career Clutch (“Career Clutch”, “we”, “our”, “us”) provides an AI-powered educational platform designed to help students practice and improve career readiness and interview skills. Our services are provided exclusively for educational purposes and are typically used by schools, school districts, counselors, and educators.

Career Clutch is committed to protecting the privacy and security of student and educator data and complies with applicable US privacy laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

2. Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • School districts and schools (“Schools”)
  • Educators, counselors, and administrators
  • Students, including children under the age of 13, when access is provided and controlled by a School

Career Clutch does not offer direct-to-consumer accounts for children.

3. School-controlled use & COPPA compliance

Career Clutch is used by students under the age of 13 only through their School.

Under COPPA:

  • Schools act as the parent’s agent and provide consent on behalf of parents
  • Career Clutch collects student information solely for educational purposes
  • We do not use student data for advertising or marketing

Parents who have questions about their child’s data should contact their School directly.

4. Information we collect

a) Information provided by schools

  • Student name, school email, grade level, or school ID (as determined by the School)
  • Educator and administrator contact details
  • Class, course, or group assignments

b) Student usage data

  • Interview practice responses (text, and if enabled by the School, audio or video)
  • Performance feedback and skill development metrics
  • Platform usage activity

c) Technical data

  • IP address, device type, browser type
  • Log and diagnostic data for security and performance

Career Clutch does not knowingly collect:

  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial information
  • Biometric identifiers
  • Behavioral advertising data

5. How we use information

We use information solely to:

  • Provide and operate the Career Clutch platform
  • Deliver AI-powered interview practice and feedback
  • Support educators with insights and reporting
  • Maintain platform security and reliability
  • Improve educational features and functionality

We do not sell or rent personal information.

6. Data ownership

  • Schools retain ownership of student data
  • Career Clutch acts as a School Official under FERPA
  • Data is used only as directed by the School and this Policy

7. AI use & data handling

Career Clutch uses artificial intelligence to provide practice-based educational feedback.

  • AI outputs are generated to support learning and reflection
  • Student data is not used to create public profiles
  • AI models are not trained on student data for unrelated commercial purposes

AI feedback is not a substitute for professional counseling, hiring decisions, or mental health services.

8. Data sharing

We may share data only with:

  • Authorized School personnel
  • Service providers who support platform operations (e.g., cloud hosting), under strict confidentiality agreements
  • As required by law

We do not share student data with advertisers.

9. Data retention & deletion

  • Student data is retained for the duration of the School’s contract
  • Upon request or contract termination, data is deleted or returned within a reasonable timeframe (typically 30–60 days)
  • Schools may request deletion at any time

10. Security safeguards

Career Clutch maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including:

  • Encryption in transit and at rest
  • Role-based access controls
  • Regular security reviews
  • Incident response procedures

11. Parent & student rights

Under FERPA, parents and eligible students have the right to:

  • Access educational records
  • Request corrections
  • Request deletion (via the School)

Requests should be directed to the School.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated to Schools.
