Texas student data privacy

Career Clutch complies with:

  • FERPA
  • COPPA (school-controlled consent)
  • Applicable provisions of the Texas Education Code, including student data protection requirements for education technology vendors

Career Clutch:

  • Uses student data solely for educational purposes
  • Does not sell or rent student personal information
  • Does not use student data for targeted advertising
  • Acts as a School Official under FERPA when providing services to Texas districts

Data security

Career Clutch maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards aligned to industry best practices and SOC 2–aligned controls, including encryption, access controls, and incident response procedures.

CCMR & career readiness use

Career Clutch supports career exploration and interview practice and is intended to complement — not replace — educator-led CCMR readiness activities.

California compliance statement (CCPA / CPRA)

Career Clutch complies with California’s student data privacy requirements, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), as applicable to educational service providers.

  • Processes personal information only on behalf of schools and districts
  • Does not sell or share personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA
  • Does not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising

Student & parent rights

Where applicable, Career Clutch supports schools in responding to:

  • Access requests
  • Correction requests
  • Deletion requests

Requests are handled through the school or district, consistent with FERPA.

Data minimization

Career Clutch collects only the minimum data necessary to provide educational services and retains data only as long as required under the school’s agreement.

Career Clutch aligns with NYC DOE data privacy, security, and vendor requirements for instructional and student-facing technology.
